PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS OF PATRONATO UNIVERSITARIO
Programs and projects
The Fundación Patronato Universitario is a Spanish foundation that carries out its activities domestically and internationally, either directly or through other non-profit entities.
Through its programs, the Foundation provides financial aid, co-finances certain cultural activities, and addresses any other needs that the Board considers to be aligned with its foundational goals. Its primary activity is to offer repayable aid.
Fundación Patronato Universitario programs assist areas such as youth and education, culture and research, welfare, and cooperation, and, of course, specific students, in addition to some religious and diocesan institutions.
The programs are as follows:
Book Program
The Program recognizes that reading is an essential activity for everyone, regardless of age; it helps develop numerous skills and contributes to personal growth and enrichment. The Program specifically aims to ensure this essential activity continues despite economic reasons. The foundation provides grants to cultural centers, student residences, cultural associations, clubs, academic centers for high school or university students, etc., to support the development of libraries and implement programs designed to promote reading.
Academic Excellence program
This program aims to optimize the pre-university and university period by facilitating study, encouraging effort, and preventing students from having to obtain resources through activities that are difficult to reconcile with their studies.
The program aims to help residents of residential colleges or similar institutions who, due to their family and economic situation, cannot afford the college and need a bank loan.
The Foundation establishes a partial redemption system for the provided financing based on academic excellence and utilizing the activities offered at the residential college.
Cultural Entities Equipment Program
This program provides co-financing aid to educational centers, residential colleges, and similar institutions for the initiation, adaptation, or improvement of their facilities.
Summer Activities Program
The program seeks to assist foundations and cultural associations that organize cultural activities during the summer. Its aim is to enable the ultimate beneficiary—the student—to attend and participate in these activities, considering the excellence of their academic record.
Teaching excellence program
Through this program, the Foundation supports educational centers that seek to economically facilitate the attendance and participation of experienced teachers in specialized courses who want to deepen and grow as professionals.
Other Forms of Assistance
Additionally, the Foundation proposes other possible forms of aid:
1. Repayable aid: Temporary and free provision of necessary resources for extraordinary expenses or initial investments. Repayment terms are established with a moral commitment to accelerate repayment if beneficiaries can. These aids can take various forms.
2. Study aid: This program funds educational and training programs for foreign students who commit to repaying the aid once they have completed their studies.
3. Non-Repayable aid: Permanent provision of resources for needs that make it foreseeably impossible to repay the received aid.
For this type of aid, the Foundation proposes specific operational criteria:
- The aid always aims to stimulate the initiative of the beneficiaries.
- Beneficiaries must contribute their effort and commitment through feasible and appropriate action plans.
- During the evaluation phase, projects always receive technical assistance from the Foundation.
- Financial aid will only be granted when the coherence and viability of the project are reasonably assured.
- In the case of repayable aid, beneficiaries are obligated to repay the loan as soon as possible, always aiming to meet or exceed the initially agreed repayment terms.
- The Foundation manages resources by seeking the most economical means without exceeding what each specific project requires.
