Patronato Universitario

Helsinki España —Dimensión Humana is an organization devoted to the protection of human rights. Since 1992, it has promoted the principles and fundamental freedoms established in the Helsinki Final Act of the OSCE.

Helsinki España promotes the importance of human rights and supports sustainable development and peace-building through excellence in educational programs. These national and international programs are designed to improve knowledge in these areas.

For over a decade (2003-2015), the Patronato Universitario has supported this foundation with repayable and non-repayable grants for equipment, training scholarships, and support for the organization’s activities.

Helsinki España’s strength lies in its international network of professionals, including specialists from organizations, think tanks, universities, NGOs, the diplomatic corps, law enforcement agencies, and members of civil society. Together, they work towards a common goal: training those who wish to contribute to building a world based on respect, tolerance, and peace.

One of Helsinki España’s key focuses is human rights education, particularly aimed at empowering youth, who represent society’s true hope.

The “Human Rights Awareness Days” stand out among their various activities. They also offer training courses for professionals in numerous fields, addressing conflict prevention, crisis and post-conflict management and terrorism.

A particularly inspiring project is “Youth for Youth.” In this program, university students receive high-quality training from experts in human rights and sustainable development goals. This knowledge is then transmitted in public, charter, and private schools in Spain, thereby raising awareness. This project has crossed borders and been exported to Portugal, Italy, Mexico, and the United States.

Helsinki España’s commitment to education, human rights, and the building of a peaceful future exemplifies how organizations can positively impact society. Their efforts demonstrate that education and empowerment are essential tools to bring about a fairer and more respectful world.
