From the beginning, the goal of Patronato Universitario has been to supply mainly repayable aid related to training and usually as part of a specific program: programs of academic excellence, book programs, summer activities and the provision of equipment for cultural institutions.
Apart from the aid which it offers via programs, Patronato Universitario also grants direct aid, both repayable and non-recoverable, always providing that the applications are sound and viable and are aligned with the criteria and objectives of the foundation.
Beneficiaries, in numbers
Taking as reference the period between 1987 and 2024, we can see that Patronato Universitario has supported 5,520 projects for a total aid amount of 361.478.860,70 euros.
Of these over 5000 projects, a quarter corresponds to the field of youth and education, 20% to that of culture and research and 34% to direct grants to students. The remaining 15% corresponds to religious and diocesan institutions.
76% of aid was granted in the form of repayable loans and the remaining 24% in the form of unrecoverable grants. This means that the great majority of students and educational and youth institutions repaid the aid they received.
