Patronato Universitario supports education as a fundamental pillar of any community, knowing that every child and young person deserves a chance to grow and thrive.
More than 20 years ago, a group of parents and professionals decided to step forward in El Salvador, a country undoubtedly needing more educational opportunities. Their intention was to build facilities and create a space where children could dream, learn, and grow in a safe and enriching environment. Lacking all the necessary resources for construction, they turned to the Foundation, which provided a zero-interest repayable loan to build two schools that are now examples of excellence: La Floresta and Lamatepec.
La Floresta and Lamatepec
La Floresta and Lamatepec have become real homes for learning. With cafeterias, computer centers, laboratories, libraries, and music classrooms, an extraordinary environment inspires students to reach their full potential. Additionally, two new classrooms were recently built at Campoverde Kindergarten: one for neuromotor activities and the other for early childhood, ensuring that even the youngest have a special place to grow.
Quality education goes beyond books. That’s why international academic programs have been implemented and changed many lives. In 2008, the Optimistic program was introduced for the youngest children, aged 1 to 4. Furthermore, the two schools are pioneers in Central America by offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.
One of the foundations of their work is the ongoing professional development of teachers, a priority aligned with the goals and objectives of the Fundación Patronato Universitario. The quality of education depends significantly on the training and commitment of teachers: the Foundation’s support has made it possible to offer opportunities for their professional growth. With this advanced training, teachers are better equipped to guide students.
The schools’s hard work has allowed them to make significant renovations to the facilities, in addition to fulfilling their repayment commitments with the Foundation. Examples include the science laboratory at Lamatepec, the construction of bleachers on the soccer field, and the building of a well to manage water-rationing periods.
