“Everything is for the best”

When Miguel Aranguren was just 17 years old, he embarked on a trip to Kenya. He had no idea this would be the starting point of his career as a writer. In his journal, he noted every experience and encounter in East Africa. One day, his stories, full of life and emotion, reached the hands of Luis Valls. Impressed by Miguel’s passion and talent, Luis encouraged him to turn those stories into a book.

Miguel didn’t know that this initial meeting would become a deep and meaningful friendship. Miguel always admired how Luis Valls helped others with what he called “silent charity.” Luis believed in helping without seeking recognition.

Luis Valls had great respect for journalism and frequently wrote many articles. Even though many journalists were widely viewed with distrust, he made an effort to get to know them personally, breaking down barriers and showing as he really was. Always with honesty and humility.

In addition to journalists, Luis Valls had a wide network of friends, which included figures like Julio Iglesias, bullfighters, and trade unionists of all colors. His ability to help was unparalleled. If someone was going through a tough time, Luis would intervene discreetly. Often the affected person never knew who was behind the help. According to Miguel, this way of acting is what made Luis unique.

Miguel Aranguren always remember one of Luis Valls’s phrases: “Everything is for the best” This simple expression holds a deep philosophy: live in peace, do good without expecting anything in return, and if things don’t turn out as you wish, it’s not that important.

The legacy of Luis Valls lives on in every action and word of Miguel Aranguren, reminding us that true charity does not need applause, only a heart willing to do good in silence.
