TESTIMONIALS
Alberto Muñíz Sánchez, 'Uncle Alberto'
Short version (3 min.)
“The three main mottos of CEMU are joy, love, and peace”
In the heart of Leganés, in the south of Madrid, the CiudadEscuela Muchachos (CEMU) has been and continues to be a home for over 400 children since its founding in 1970 by Alberto Muñiz Sánchez, known as ‘Tío Alberto.’ CEMU promotes an educational approach where both children and adults learn and grow together and where children have a voice and a vote. The so-called educational binomial approach highlights the importance of mutual enrichment between children and adults.
‘Tío Alberto’ shared memories about Luis Valls, a key figure in CEMU’s history. Well known for his career in banking, Valls left a profound mark on the community from the beginning.
Luis Valls was distinguished by his sensitivity and his genuine interest in the well-being of the children. He did not limit himself to donating resources; he also dedicated time and offered companionship. His role in CEMU was that of a friend and mentor, always willing to listen and support.
Valls is remembered at CEMU not only for his generosity but also for his warmth and humanity. His legacy of joy, love, and peace lives on in every corner of the school, inspiring everyone to follow his example. His wisdom and constant presence demonstrated that real impact is achieved through accompaniment and support.
In CiudadEscuela Muchachos, Luis Valls’s example remains a reminder that learning and growth are shared processes and that every contribution leaves a lasting mark on the lives of the children.
